Most people meet the Monk as an unarmed brawler. The Oracle is the opposite: a caster who lets totems do the fighting. Spell Totem is the engine - you plant a totem that casts your spell, and it pours damage out while you stand at range and keep yourself alive. Thunderstorm is what your totems rain over a pack to clear it; Bonestorm is the heavy nuke they unload into a boss. The glue is Entangle: roots and snares that keep enemies off you and off your totems while the casting happens. It is the safest way the Monk class plays - you are a commander placing turrets and locking the room down, not a body in the middle of it.
Your loop is plant-and-protect. Drop totems on or near a pack, let Thunderstorm rain down, and use Entangle to root anything that tries to walk out of it or reach you. You reposition constantly - totems are stationary, so you're always moving to keep a fresh one near the action while the old ones finish. For a boss it's the same idea concentrated: plant your totems, let them charge Bonestorm into the target, Entangle to pin it, and Frost Bomb to soften it if you brought it. The tension to respect is that totems are not you - they have to be placed and they expire, so the skill is good placement and constant re-planting, not aiming. Stay back, keep the room snared, and let the turrets work.
Get Spell Totem online as early as you can and link it to your damage spell - a totem doing the work is what makes this build safe from act one. Take a staff or sceptre for spell damage, not an unarmed setup. Lean on Entangle early to keep packs off you. Stack Life (or Energy Shield) and keep your weapon current.
Bring in Thunderstorm as your pack-clear and Bonestorm as the single-target your totems pour into bosses. Treat Entangle as your primary defense - rooting the pack is how a back-line caster survives. Slot Frost Bomb for the tankier rares. Resistances should be capped by the end of the campaign; amulet and belt are your easy slots.
Clear is totems + Thunderstorm over a pinned pack; single-target is totems charging Bonestorm on a boss. Lean into the Oracle keystones the ladder runs (The Unseen Path / The Lesser Harm) and shift your gear toward spell damage, cast speed, and totem-relevant bonuses. Your survival is staying back and keeping the room Entangled - never get caught next to your own totems. Reconcile the exact tree against a Path of Building export before you spend real currency.
The whole build. Plant a totem and it casts your spell for you - it takes the damage and the danger while you stay at range. Everything else exists to feed it (Bonestorm/Thunderstorm) or protect it (Entangle).
The single-target your totems pour into a boss. Plant totems on a tanky target and let them charge and unload the bone shards while you reposition and keep the target pinned.
Your clear. A lightning storm that rains over an area - let the totems blanket a pack with it while you move to seed the next group. The pack-melting half of the kit.
Your defense, not an afterthought. Roots and snares so enemies can't reach you or your stationary totems. On a back-line totem build, keeping the room pinned IS the survival plan.
Supplementary control for when Entangle is on cooldown or a rare needs pinning - extra crowd control so your totems get the time to finish. A comfort skill.
Optional utility - a delayed cold blast that chills and softens a tough target before your totems open up. Flavor, not core; drop it if you prefer another utility.
Entangle and Spell Totem lead the Oracle ladder because they are the two halves of how this ascendancy actually survives and deals damage - totems do the work, roots keep you safe. Bonestorm and Thunderstorm are the spells the totems run, and The Unseen Path / The Lesser Harm are the keystones the meta agrees on. The honest room to make it yours is which spell you totem and your second control skill - Thrashing Vines vs Frost Bomb vs another curse is preference. Keep the totem-plus-Entangle skeleton; season the spells.

The Oracle defends by not being where the danger is. Totems are stationary and disposable - they soak aggro and deal the damage while you stay at range, so your survival is position plus crowd control, not toughness. Entangle (roots the pack), constant repositioning (never stand next to your own totems when they pull aggro), and capped resistances are the plan. Run Life or Energy Shield as your buffer and keep it topped. Don't try to facetank - a totem commander who gets surrounded is a dead one.
