What this build is

Spirit Walker is the most-run Huntress line this patch, and the reason is simple: it turns the whole game into a freeze-and-shatter loop. Twister does the throwing, Ice-Tipped Arrows makes every hit cold, and Herald of Ice converts a single frozen kill into a chain reaction across the rest of the screen. You are not memorising a rotation - you are stacking chill until things stop moving, then watching them shatter. The companion (Wild Protector) is what separates Spirit Walker from a plain bow build: it holds the front line so you can stay at range and keep the freezes flowing.

The core loop

Throw Twister into a pack and keep moving. Your damage is the freeze, not any single big hit, so you want to be tagging as many enemies as possible rather than tunnelling one. Once something dies frozen, Herald of Ice takes over and clears the rest. Against a single tough target, plant Barrage and channel a focused volley while your companion soaks the hits. The whole build rewards positioning over reaction time: stay mobile, let chill build, and use Whirling Slash to slip out when a pack collapses on you.

Leveling path

Acts 1-2 - get cold onlineL1-~12

Start throwing Twister immediately - it is your main from the first weapon. The moment Ice-Tipped Arrows is available, slot it; everything changes once your hits actually chill. Don't worry about a 'perfect' weapon yet, just take the highest flat cold and attack speed you can find. Resistances barely matter in act one; Life on every slot does.

Acts 3-4 - the freeze engine turns on~L12-~35

Add Herald of Ice around the time your freezes start landing reliably (roughly when Ice-Tipped Arrows plus a cold weapon overlap). This is the clear power-spike - one frozen kill should now ripple through a pack. Bring in Wild Protector so you have a body on the front line, and start treating the belt and amulet as your resistance-capping slots. The acts steadily chip your resistances, so plan to be capped by the time you leave the campaign.

Maps / endgame - shatter everything~L35+

By now Twister + Herald of Ice should clear packs faster than you can walk through them. Shift your gear focus from 'enough Life to survive' to 'enough freeze threshold and chill to lock down rares', and slot Barrage for the bosses that out-scale your shatter chain. The meta keystones below (Primal Bounty, Dance with Death) are where the build's identity gets sharp - take them once your core skills are stable.

Skill packages

T
main
Twister

Your main and your clear. Cold spinning projectiles that linger, so you can throw-and-move instead of standing still. Everything else exists to make Twister's hits freeze.

IA
buff
Ice-Tipped Arrows

The enabler. It adds cold to your attacks, which is what lets a physical-leaning kit actually chill and freeze. Slot it as early as it is available - the build feels half-built without it.

HOI
clear
Herald of Ice

The reason Spirit Walker clears so fast. A frozen enemy that dies shatters and chains ice outward. Free pack-clear, but it only triggers once your freezes are reliable, so it comes online a little after your main.

WS
movement
Whirling Slash

Mobility and an emergency melee option. Use it to reposition out of a collapsing pack or to close a gap, not as a primary damage skill.

WP
skill
Wild Protector

The companion that defines the line. It tanks and pressures so you can stay at range. Keep it up - a lot of Spirit Walker's survivability is just 'the bear is in front of you.'

B
boss
Barrage

Single-target answer. When a boss out-scales your shatter chain, plant and channel a focused volley into it while the companion holds aggro.

Where it sits in the meta

Read honestly, this is a build that is on-trend exactly where it should be. Twister, Ice-Tipped Arrows and Herald of Ice are the three most-run skills on the ascendancy, and they are run together because the freeze-shatter loop is genuinely the strongest thing the Huntress does right now. Where you have room to make it yours is the companion and the single-target slot - Wild Protector and Barrage are popular rather than universal, so if you prefer a different companion or a different boss tool, you are not breaking the build. The skeleton (freeze, then shatter) is the part you keep.

Staying alive

Two things keep a Spirit Walker alive: capped resistances and the freeze itself. An enemy that is frozen is not hitting you, so a lot of your defence is offence - the faster you lock a pack down, the less it matters how tanky you are. Underneath that, treat resistance cap as a hard leveling objective (the campaign keeps chipping it), keep Life on every slot, and let Wild Protector eat the hits that do land. Energy Shield on top is a comfortable buffer but Life comes first.
